Tony De Stefani arrived from Italy to Australia in 1955. He spent his first year in North QLD like so many other Italian migrants of that time cutting cane. He chose to head to Northern NSW where the vibrant Tobacco industry was strong and arrived at Reedy Creek as a sharefarmer in 1956. A few years later he met a girl from Tungcester, near Lismore called Norina Ruoso. Born in Australia Norina's parents were Italian and her father was amongst the first Italian migrants to arrive in Australia in the early 1930's. In 1964 Tony and Norina were married.
On the 11th of November 1969 Tony and Norina purchased Reedy Creek and also planted the first vineyard at that same time. They raised 3 children on the property, Gino, Loretta and Nick. Tony passed away in 1993 but the family remains committed to the property and the business.

The De Stefani family originates from the North of Italy from the town of Conegliano, known internationally for its Prosecco wine, a crisp flavoursome wine that can either be still or sparkling. The name De Stefani originates much further back though and can be traced to early Roman time. The Reserve range of wines at Reedy Creek bear the family crest, of which the family motto is "Love conquers all things".
